Ask Agony Mom

I am receiving a lot of queries on my email. I do my best to reply as soon as possible with the best information possible.
Most of the questions are regarding the problems faced in deciding about which board to choose, which is better school, which is better all girls or co-ed, etc.
I feel honored and also very responsible and I am trying my best to answer all the queries with utmost honesty.
But, a lot of the questions are those which I wish were public as they would also help others. My main intention of writing all my experiences was so that as many parents are aware of the good, the bad or the ugly about a school, a board or a product as it happened or exists. When we are aware, we take better decision.
In case anyone is not getting a right place to post their query, this page can be used to ask me any questions you have in your mind, however silly it sounds. Trust me what is silly to you makes a lot of importance to others.
I will try my best to source any information you wish to know of.
By the way I do not dwell in agony ever, and wish everyone has a positive agony free life.

Thanks a bunch for replying Madhurie. I guess the position I am in now, I might have to take a risk with putting her directly to LKG after next year.
My daughter is 2 and 1/2. She’ll be 3 in June. So isn’t she the right age for Nursery admissions now? I wish she were small and I had the time, though
I guess all schools finish their admission process by Nov-Dec, right?
Thanks again for the reply. Im still anxious, but at least now I guess I do have an option of taking a risk of finding admission for her in LKG.
Will check ur site links for more info.
Thanks for being so sweet

Hi Premila,
Relax
. (I know it’s easy to preach )
Well, technically, your daughter need not go through Nursery, if she clears the observation rounds of a school for LKg admission.
But, since Nursery is the first class or the entry to a school, it’s easier to get admission in Nursery. Also the Nursery class kids will be automatically going to the LKg. Hence the chances of vacant seats becomes difficult .
So, even though age might not be the barrier, the availability of seat in LKg can become a roadblock.
Most schools start with Nursery, especially for Girls.
I do not think there is any provision for Online Admissions as far as I am aware. I guess the demand outnumbers the supply, so why would any school opt for online admission!
But, you have good chance with newer schools like Vibgyor. I like Aman Setu . There are International Schools also. You can try in Primrose too.
CBSE schools : DPS is the best option. They ofcourse are done with admissions in Nov-Dec.
Another excellent school is Gurukul Express which is CBSE and day boarding.
You can check my site links for more details on other CBSE schools. In case you want more info, you can comment back .:)
By the way, your daughter is quite small so you have enough time as per the age criteria of Nursery admissions.

Hi Madhurie
Your site seems like a god send.
Im very worried right now about my daughter’s admissions, but right now we are in the US with my husband for a year long assignment. And it’s only been a a month since we came. My daughter is now 2 and 1/2 yrs old and will qualify by age for nursery this coming June. After reading one of ur discussions I realised that we’ll miss her nursery admissions. So Im trying to figure out if I can do anything from here and that’s why Im asking for your help.
Would you know if its possible to try for nursery admissions online?
And do all the good schools require that your child complete nursery to be eligible for their LKG admissions? I mean if we return back only after a year, would she be eligible for admission to LKG directly?
Here they accept children into kinder garten only once they are 4. So I have enrolled her here for playschool. Do you think a certificate from a play school would help with LKG admission there? Or do I need to come back this month itself to apply for admissions to nursery for her. I don’t want her to lose a year.
Hoping to hear back from you.
Please help

P.S: I was inclined towards CBSE board for her.
